The Blitzsafe HON/ALP DMX V.1D not only allows you to add an after market Alpine 6 disc CD changer to many 1998 to 2005 Honda and Acura factory radios (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List below), but it also gives you an auxiliary input that allows you to connect an MP3, DVD, XM or any audio input device that has an audio output connector! Please note you do not have to have a CD changer installed to use this device as an auxiliary input converter.
Installation is simple as this auxiliary input converter will connect to an empty 14-pin connector, shown at right, that is located on the back of the factory radio using the vehicle specific cable that comes with the interface. (Click on image to see full photo of the rear of the radio). Your vehicle’s factory radio MUST have an empty 14-pin connector to be compatible, and here's why.
In several model years of Acura and Honda vehicles, three different types of radios were used that from the front, look exactly the same. Many do have the unused 14-pin connector at the rear of the radio and also have the in-dash 6-disc CD changer or the single disc CD player. Some have the 14-pin connector at the rear of the radio but it is used by the 6-disc in-dash CD changer. Still others have no 14-pin connector at all at the rear of the radio, because the in-dash CD changer is connected internally and the 14-pin connector was never installed.
With this device installed, in addition to adding an after market CD changer, you will have created an auxiliary audio input to your factory radio, which will now allow you to plug in any external audio source, like the audio from a portable MP3 player, satellite tuner, DVD player, or iPOD, into the left & right RCA-type connectors (shown at left), and play the audio from that external audio device directly through your factory radio. This is a direct-connect device and NOT an FM Modulator. An FM modulator requires you to tune to an FM radio station in order to listen to the audio from the external audio device. This device does not work like that.
Comes complete with all cables and connectors to connect this device to your vehicle. See "Additional Add-on Items", shown below, for any additional cables or connectors you might need to connect your audio device to the RCA-type connectors on this interface.
Please Note: This is a direct-connect audio-only auxiliary input converter, and does not allow you to control the external audio device that is connected to it.
Additional Add-on Items You May Need to Complete Installation:
If you need more than one audio input, you can convert the single auxiliary input of this device into three auxiliary inputs by adding the AUX3.
If you are wanting to connect a Zune™ player with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the Zune by adding the SoundGate ZNCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack.
If you are wanting to connect an iPOD™ with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the iPOD by adding the SoundGate PDCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack. (Provides 5V charging for all new iPODs and iPhones, including the 3G)
If you are wanting to connect to the earphone jack of your audio device, you can convert the RCA inputs on this interface to a 3.5mm input by adding the PIE 3.5-RCA6MM Interface.
If you are using this interface to connect the audio from any MP3 player, cell phone or GPS nav device, and you want to mount your personal mobile device safely and securely to the dash of your vehicle without drilling any holes, you can add the SoundGate M2 universal mobile device. Great for leased vehicles, company cars and rental cars and vehicles.
Compatibility Information:
Compatible with the Alpine CHM-S630 6 Disc CD Changer and the Alpine CHA-S634 6 Disc MP3 CD Changer when used in conjunction with the CPKCA130B Adapter (needed for the CHA-S634 only).
Plugs into the rear of the factory radio.
Factory radio must have an unused 14-pin rectangle connector socket at the rear of the radio. Pressing the "Seek/Skip (+)" button and then the "Seek/Skip (-)" button, or if so equipped, the "Up Disc >>" button and then the "Down Disc <<" button, switches between the CD Changer and the Auxiliary input device.
