Acura/Honda Radio Removal Instructions
Product Description:
The HON/AUX DMX V.1 Auxiliary Input Converter connects to the CD changer data port at the rear of the factory radio in many 1994-2005 Acura/Honda vehicles (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List above), and will create an external auxiliary input into your factory radio.
Installation is easy as this auxiliary input converter will connect to an empty 14-pin connector that is located on the back of the factory radio, shown in the image at right (Click on image to see full photo of the rear of the radio). Your vehicle’s factory radio MUST have an empty 14-pin connector to be compatible, and here's why.
In several model years of Acura and Honda vehicles, three different types of radios were used that from the front, look exactly the same. Many do have the unused 14-pin connector at the rear of the radio and also have the in-dash 6-disc CD changer or the single disc CD player. Some have the 14-pin connector at the rear of the radio but it is used by the 6-disc in-dash CD changer. Still others have no 14-pin connector at all at the rear of the radio, because the in-dash CD changer is connected internally and the 14-pin connector was never installed.
Once this device is installed, you will have created an auxiliary audio input into your factory radio. This aux input has both a 3.5mm earphone-type plug plus left & right RCA-type connectors (both shown at left). Having both types of audio connectors will provide universal connectivity for any type of connection you’ll need. This will allow you to connect any external audio source using the supplied connectors and play the audio from that external audio source directly through your factory radio speakers. This is NOT an FM Modulator or a cassette adapter but a direct connection into your factory radio. Therefore, you will get the highest digital quality audio possible without noise, FM bleadthrough or cassette ‘hiss’.
Please Note: This is a direct connect audio-only auxiliary input converter, and does not allow you to control the external audio device that is connected to it.
