Ford Radio Removal Instructions
Product Description:
The Logjam CPFD98NAUX3.5 is a complete aux in kit that connects to the data port on the back of the factory radio of many 1998-2005 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List above), to create an external 3.5mm earphone-type jack auxiliary input that you can then use to connect the audio from any external audio source, like the audio from an MP3 player, a portable DVD player, computer, video game, any audio device that has an earphone-type audio output connector.

Installation is simple and uncomplicated, as your factory radio in the vehicles listed below will have either the 16-pin CD changer connector, shown in the image at right, which is one of three connectors in Ford's "Phase II" 8-pin/16-pin/24-pin connector configuration. Or your factory radio will have the 20-pin CD changer connector, also shown at right, which is one of two connectors in Ford's standard "World" 20-pin/16-pin connector configuration. You can click on either image to see a larger photo of the rear of each radio showing both connector configurations. This interface comes with both sets of wiring harness included, an exclusive Logjam Electronics feature, eliminating the need to remove the factory radio before you buy the device, just to see which set of connectors your factory radio has!
Depending on what factory options your vehicle has, there could already be a factory wiring harness plugged into the 16-pin or the 20-pin satellite radio connector. Both sets of wiring harnesses are designed with a 'Y' connector that allows you to reconnect any factory wiring harness, if so equipped, once the interface is installed, keeping all existing factory options functional. If there is no factory wiring harness plugged into the 16-pin or the 20-pin satellite radio connector on the radio you have, the female end of the 'Y' harness will remain empty after installation.

Once this device is installed, you will have created an auxiliary audio input into your factory radio. This aux input has both a 3.5mm earphone-type plug plus left & right RCA-type connectors (both shown at left). Having both types of audio connectors will provide universal connectivity for any type of connection youll need. This will allow you to connect any external audio source using the supplied connectors and play the audio from that external audio source directly through your factory radio speakers. This is NOT an FM Modulator or a cassette adapter but a direct connection into your factory radio. Therefore, you will get the highest digital quality audio possible without noise, FM bleadthrough or cassette hiss.
