Ford Radio Removal Instructions
Product Description:
The CPFD98NAUXPD iPod interface kit connects to the rear of the factory radio of many 1998-2007 Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles, and a few Mazda vehicles whose radio has built in external CD changer capabilities (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List). It is designed to allow you to connect your iPod directly into the factory radio, giving you digital quality sound, plus charges your iPod, does not disable the iPod controls or iPod display which allows control of the iPod directly from the iPod itself. This kit comes complete with everything you need to install.
Installation is simple and uncomplicated, as your factory radio in the vehicles listed below will have either the 16-pin CD changer connector, shown in the image at right, which is one of three connectors in Ford's "Phase II" 8-pin/16-pin/24-pin connector configuration. Or your factory radio will have the 20-pin CD changer connector, also shown at right, which is one of two connectors in Ford's standard "World" 20-pin/16-pin connector configuration. You can click on either image to see a larger photo of the rear of each radio showing both connector configurations. This interface comes with both sets of wiring harness included, an exclusive Logjam Electronics feature, eliminating the need to remove the factory radio before you buy the device, just to see which set of connectors your factory radio has!
Depending on what factory options your vehicle has, there could already be a factory wiring harness plugged into the 16-pin or the 20-pin satellite radio connector. Both sets of wiring harnesses are designed with a 'Y' connector that allows you to reconnect any factory wiring harness, if so equipped, once the interface is installed, keeping all existing factory options functional. If there is no factory wiring harness plugged into the 16-pin or the 20-pin satellite radio connector on the radio you have, the female end of the 'Y' harness will remain empty after installation.
