Installation Notes & Explanations
Note #1 - Honda/Acura Empty 14-pin connector:
In several model years of Acura and Honda vehicles, three different types of radios were used that from the front, look exactly the same. Many have the unused 14-pin connector at the rear of the radio and also have the in-dash 6-disc CD changer or the single disc CD player. Some have the 14-pin connector at the rear of the radio but it is used by the 6-disc in-dash CD changer. Still others have no 14-pin connector at the rear of the radio, because the in-dash CD changer is connected internally and the 14-pin connector was never installed. In all three variations, the internal capabilities of the radio also varies regarding just what external factory equipment the radio will handle. However, what we have found to be true is that if the radio has an empty 14-pin connector from the factory, the radio will have the internal capabilities of controlling an external factory CD changer. If the radio can control an external factory CD changer, then the appropriate interface, which emulates a factory CD changer, will work with the radio. This is why we state that your vehicle MUST have an empty 14-pin connector to be compatible.

Note #2 - Ford Escape/Expedition/Explorer Connector Configuration:
These Ford model vehicles can have two different radios installed that will look exactly the same from the outside of the dash but have two different connector configurations found on the back of the radio once the radio is removed. One of these radios can have the 8-pin, 16-pin and 24-pin configuration, identified as the 'Phase II' style connectors, while the other can have the 20-pin and 16-pin standard Ford connector configuration. The only way to tell which pin configuration you have is to pull the radio and count the pins.
