The PAC AAI-CHY Dual Auxiliary Audio Input, which is equivalent to Peripheral's CHYX, is designed to work in 2005 and up Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles with Satellite or VES option. The AAI-CHY allows direct audio input of any preamp level audio source into the factory radio through the two sets of left & right RCA connectors, each input selectable from buttons on the factory radio. The AAI-CHY also includes an accessory +12 volt wire output for connecting to one of the audio sources that will connect to it, and left and right signal adjustments for each input.
Installation is simple, as the auxiliary input converter plugs into the 10-pin connector, shown at right, at the rear of your factory radio using the vehicle specific cable that comes with the interface (Click on image to see larger photo of the rear of the radio). If your vehicle has an external CD changer (not an in-dash CD changer), like one that is mounted under the seat, in the glove box, in the trunk, or some other external location, its cable will be connected to this 10-pin connector and will need to be disconnected to install this interface device.
With this device installed, you will have created two auxiliary audio inputs to your factory radio, which will now allow you to plug in any two external audio sources, like the audio from a portable MP3 player, satellite tuner, DVD player, or iPod, into the left & right RCA-type connectors (shown at left), and play the audio from that external audio device directly through your factory radio. This is a direct-connect device and NOT an FM Modulator. An FM modulator requires you to tune to an FM radio station in order to listen to the audio from the external audio device. This device does not work like that.
Additional Add-on Items You May Need to Complete Installation:
If you need more than one audio input, you can convert the single auxiliary input of this device into three auxiliary inputs by adding the AUX3.
If you are wanting to connect a Zune™ player with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the Zune by adding the SoundGate ZNCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack.
If you are wanting to connect an iPOD™ with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the iPOD by adding the SoundGate PDCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack. (Provides 5V charging for all new iPODs and iPhones, including the 3G)
If you are wanting to connect to the earphone jack of your audio device, you can convert the RCA inputs on this interface to a 3.5mm input by adding the PIE 3.5-RCA6MM Interface.
If you are using this interface to connect the audio from any MP3 player, cell phone or GPS nav device, and you want to mount your personal mobile device safely and securely to the dash of your vehicle without drilling any holes, you can add the SoundGate M2 universal mobile device. Great for leased vehicles, company cars and rental cars and vehicles.
Application Notes:
Works with Navigation (REC), 6 Disc/MP3 (RAQ), 6 Disc/Cassette (RAK) and Single Disc (REF) model radios in 2005 and up Chrysler-made vehicles. This is indicated on the front of the radios by the right knob.
The AAI-CHY will emulate the factory VES by default.
Consequently, if the vehicle has both Satellite and VES, one of the devices will have to be disconnected in order for the AAI-CHY to work. The AAI-CHY will then emulate which ever device that is disconnected.
If you are using a single disc radio (REF model), the factory Satellite (if available) must be disconnected. This radio has no option for VES, therefore the AAI-CHY can not emulate it.
The factory VES or Satellite are completly disabled if the AAI-CHY emulates it. DVD's and/or headphones can not be used.
