The PAC AAI-GM24 Auxiliary Input Converter, which is the equivalent to Peripheral's PXGM24, connects to the CD changer connector at the rear of the factory radio in many 2000-2006 GM vehicles ((Please see Specific Vehicle Application List below), to create an external auxiliary input that you can then use to connect the audio from any external audio source, like the audio from an MP3 player, a portable DVD player, computer, video game, any audio device that has an audio output connector. The AAI-GM24 gives you two auxiliary inputs selectable via the factory radio's buttons. Both inputs are fully adjustable to give you balanced audio volume when switching between other radio functions (AM/FM/CD) and the two auxiliary audio devices connected to the audio inputs of the AAI-GM24.
Installation is simple as this auxiliary input converter connects to the 12-pin connector, shown at right, that is located on the back of the factory radio, using the vehicle specific cable that comes with the interface (Click on image to see larger photo of the rear of the radio). You then connect the black wire from the interface wiring harness to chassis ground and the yellow wire to a 12V constant source and you’re done!
Depending on what factory options your vehicle has, there could already be a factory wiring harness plugged into the 12-pin radio connector. The wiring harness that comes with this interface device is designed with a 'Y' connector that allows you to reconnect the factory wiring harness, if so equipped, once the interface is installed, keeping all existing factory options functional. If there is no factory wiring harness plugged into the 12-pin connector, the 12-pin 'Y' harness will remain empty after installation.
Installation Instructions & Notes
With this device installed, you will have created an auxiliary audio input to your factory radio, which will now allow you to plug in any external audio source, like the audio from a portable MP3 player, satellite tuner, DVD player, or iPod, into the left & right RCA-type connectors (shown at left), and play the audio from that external audio device directly through your factory radio. This is a direct-connect device and NOT an FM Modulator. An FM modulator requires you to tune to an FM radio station in order to listen to the audio from the external audio device. This device does not work like that.
The AAI-GM24 auxiliary input device is the first in the industry to use either the radio buttons or steering wheel controls to send out commands to PAC's optional SWI-X, which can be used to control an iPod, MP3 player, DVD, VCP or most devices that use an infrared remote.
Comes complete with all cables and connectors necessary to connect this interface to your vehicle. See "Additional Add-on Items", shown below, for any additional cables or connectors you might need to connect your specific audio device to the RCA-type connectors on this interface.
Please Note: This is a direct connect audio-only auxiliary input converter, and does not allow you to control the external audio device that is connected to it.
Additional Add-on Items You May Need to Complete Installation:
If you need more than one audio input, you can convert the single auxiliary input of this device into three auxiliary inputs by adding the AUX3.
If you are wanting to connect a Zune™ player with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the Zune by adding the SoundGate ZNCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack.
If you are wanting to connect an iPOD™ with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the iPOD by adding the SoundGate PDCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack. (Provides 5V charging for all new iPODs and iPhones, including the 3G)
If you are wanting to connect to the earphone jack of your audio device, you can convert the RCA inputs on this interface to a 3.5mm input by adding the PIE 3.5-RCA6MM Interface.
If you are using this interface to connect the audio from any MP3 player, cell phone or GPS nav device, and you want to mount your personal mobile device safely and securely to the dash of your vehicle without drilling any holes, you can add the SoundGate M2 universal mobile device. Great for leased vehicles, company cars and rental cars and vehicles.
