The OS-2 is a plug and play interface that allows replacement of a GM Class 2 factory radio and maintain operation of the OnStar® system select 2000-2004 GM vehicles (see list below for specific applications). The OS-2 has on-board switching and amplification to allow audio from the OnStar® system to play through the two front factory speakers whenever OnStar® is active, and mute the new aftermarket replacement radio. Use the OS-2 on non-Bose systems or in Bose systems where the Bose® amplifier will be disconnected. For GM vehicles with Bose® Systems, see the OS-2BOSE.
IMPORTANT:
The OS-2 does NOT allow you to retain the factory XM receiver, the rear seat controls/headphones nor the rear seat DVD if these options are installed. You will lose these options once the factory radio is replaced with an after market radio.
To retain warning chimes, the CM1 must be used (see ordering information below).

Note to customers or customer's installer: When programming or re-flashing a vehicle's Body Control Module (BCM) or Power-train Control Module (PCM), the factory fuse that powers the factory radio harness must be pulled from the vehicle fuse box before performing the reprogramming. Failure to discount power to or remove the new aftermarket radio and it's associated interface adapter OS-2, OS-2 BOSE or C2R-GM24 may cause programming errors and or render the vehicle's computer inoperative.
Current products that need to be removed if the vehicle's computer(s) needs to be programmed are: OS-2 with revision 1.2.11or lower, OS-2BOSE with revision 1.3.11 or lower and C2R-GM24 with revision 1.2.4 or lower.
Note to GM dealership: If this procedure is not done, the BCM, PCM or other computer modules will become PERMANENTLY inoperative when trying to program or re-flash new firmware using the TECH2. Replacing the module will be required, which will result in unnecessary costs to you and the owner of the vehicle.
