An iPod interface for the F150 and other Ford "CAN-Bus" radios with the 'AUX' button!!
The FRD04-POD/S iPod interface allows you to connect your iPod directly to the factory radio of many 2005-2008 Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles with built in Satellite radio control functions (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List below). Using this interface, the iPod will take the place of the Ford Sirius satellite tuner, providing you with the most interactive Ford iPod interface available.
Installation is simple as this iPod interface connects to the 16-pin connector, shown in image at right, located on the back of the factory radio, using the vehicle specific cable that comes with the iPod interface (Click on image to see larger photo of the rear of the radio). Depending on what factory options your vehicle has, there could already be a factory wiring harness plugged into the 16-pin radio connector. The wiring harness that comes with this interface is designed with a 'Y' connector that allows you to reconnect the factory wiring harness, if so equipped, once the interface is installed, keeping all existing factory options functional. If there is no factory wiring harness plugged into the 16-pin connector, the 16-pin 'Y' harness will remain empty after installation.
An important feature of the FRD04-POD/S is that is gives you the option of using the factory radio to control the iPod, or you can use the iPod itself to control your iPod. This allows you to use your iPod the way YOU want to use it, not the way the interface dictates that you use it! It also charges the iPod while the iPod is connected.
Comes complete with all cables and connectors necessary to connect this iPod interface to your factory radio, and to connect your iPod to this interface. Nothing else is needed for installation.
The factory radio’s Sirius satellite controls are utilized to operate the iPod, allowing you to navigate through the iPod by artist, album, playlist, and song title. In addition, your factory radio will display iPod text fields in the following manner:
Artist Name in 12 characters
Song title in 16 characters, shown 8 characters at a time when song is first selected and then 12 characters shown when doing a songs search
Album Title in 12 characters
Playlist Name in 12 characters
