The FRDR/PC-ALP interface connects to the CD changer connector at the rear of the factory radio in many 1995-2007 Ford-made vehicles (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List below) and will allow your factory radio to control an Alpine CD Changer.

Installation is simple, as the interface plugs into the 16-pin connector at the rear of your factory radio using the vehicle specific cable that comes with the interface. The 16-pin connector, shown in the image at right, is one of the two connectors used in Ford's “JBL/LUX” 8-pin/16-pin connector configuration (click on image to see larger photo of both connectors and rear of “JBL/LUX” radio). Then, you simply connect the CD changer to the connector on the interface using the changer cable that comes with the Alpine CD changer.

Depending on what factory options your vehicle has, there could already be a factory wiring harness plugged into the 16-pin radio connector. The wiring harness that comes with this interface device is designed with a 'Y' connector that allows you to reconnect the factory wiring harness, if so equipped, once the interface is installed, keeping all existing factory options functional. If there is no factory wiring harness plugged into the 16-pin connector, the 16-pin 'Y' harness will remain empty after installation.
