  
The PIE GM9-AUX Auxiliary Input Converter converts the CD Changer port of your OEM factory radio into an auxiliary input. The GM9-AUX is compatible with many 1995-2003 GM vehicles (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List below), to create an external auxiliary input that you can then use to connect the audio from any external audio source, like the audio from an MP3 player, a portable DVD player, computer, video game, any audio device that has an audio output connector. NOTE: For GM vehicles that are pre-wired with a CD changer cable in the trunk, hatch or rear of the vehicle, see the GM10-AUX.
 Installation is simple as this auxiliary input converter connects to the 9-pin connector, shown at right, that is located on the back of the factory radio, using the vehicle specific cable that comes with the interface (Click on image to see larger photo of the rear of the radio). If your vehicle has a ‘satellite’ Cassette player or CD player, separate from the radio and usually mounted directly under the radio or in the center console, that is not a part of the actual radio itself, its cable will be connected to this 9-pin connector and will need to be disconnected to install this interface device.
 With this device installed, you will have created an auxiliary audio input to your factory radio, which will now allow you to plug in any external audio source, like the audio from a portable MP3 player, satellite tuner, DVD player, or iPOD, into the left & right RCA-type connectors (shown at left), and play the audio from that external audio device directly through your factory radio. This is a direct-connect device and NOT an FM Modulator. An FM modulator requires you to tune to an FM radio station in order to listen to the audio from the external audio device. This device does not work like that.
Additional Add-on Items You May Need to Complete Installation:
If you need more than one audio input, you can convert the single auxiliary input of this device into three auxiliary inputs by adding the AUX3.
If you are wanting to connect a Zune™ player with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the Zune by adding the SoundGate ZNCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack.
If you are wanting to connect an iPOD™ with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the iPOD by adding the SoundGate PDCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack. (Provides 5V charging for all new iPODs and iPhones, including the 3G)
If you are wanting to connect to the earphone jack of your audio device, you can convert the RCA inputs on this interface to a 3.5mm input by adding the PIE 3.5-RCA6MM Interface.
If you are using this interface to connect the audio from any MP3 player, cell phone or GPS nav device, and you want to mount your personal mobile device safely and securely to the dash of your vehicle without drilling any holes, you can add the SoundGate M2 universal mobile device. Great for leased vehicles, company cars and rental cars and vehicles.
IMPORTANT APPLICATION NOTES:
1. The GM9-AUX is NOT compatible with vehicles equipped with 6-disc in-dash CD changers.
2. 1995-1999 GM radios are not capable of controlling the GM9-AUX Input Converter when a factory non-dash mounted device (such as a single disc CD player, or cassette deck) is present.
3. 1995 thru 1999 AM/FM/CD radios are NOT CD changer capable, and will not work with the GM9-AUX.
4. 1995-2002 AM-FM-Cassette radios WILL work with the GM9-AUX but will require any slave unit, if present, to be disconnected.
