When I saw that Logjam offered their technical support *before* I purchased an item, I filled out the form, asking for their recommendation. Their response came one business day later (over the holidays, no less) and recommended a different adapter. It was similar, but priced the same and included a cable the other unit didn't. More importantly, it included two harnesses, because my car could have employed either type of connector. I ordered the recommended adapter from Logjam. (Because of the support, but also since they recommended it, they'd pay for an RMA if it didn't work.) It arrived quickly. I took two hours to install it. Most of the time was spent opening the dashboard and removing the head unit and putting it all away. Installing the adapter was a breeze. Everything worked on the first try. No one was more amazed than me. I know almost nothing about car audio, and the Logjam Electronics's website helped me figure out what component to use. Their customer service responded quickly to an email I sent asking questions about the component. They were informative and patient. The component was priced and packaged with all the parts I needed to make it work in my specific model. This was helpful because I didn't have to track down other parts and because I knew how much it would cost up front, instead of watching the price tag creep up as each component was added. I appreciated that. The wiring diagram and instructions that came with the component were accurate and helpful. The actually installation of the component only took about ten minutes (taking apart the dash, etc. was another story), and everything worked on the first try. The other thing that I appreciated from this business was they are very clear about their return policies. There are substantial protections for the consumer, which was reassuring to me since I was buying something I knew nothing about. I was on the verge of replacing the entire radio, just to get an AUX output. Because of the help I received from the Logjam customer service, i was able to do a simple modification to the existing radio for a lot less money. Called customer service and was promised a replacement would be sent the same day. After a week went by I emailed them for a tracking number and instead got a reply saying that they were not sending me anything at all because I didn't fill out the online RMA form. I was not told to do this previously, I was just told the part would ship that day. So I filled out the form on a Friday, 4 days after my original complaint. It is now Monday evening and I haven't heard a word from them. I doubt they have sent anything yet and if they have I'd have no way of knowing. I guess I'm going to have to deal with the manufacturer to get this thing replaced as Logjam has left me without a paddle. I'm not a hard guy to please; if you say you are going to do something, you better well do it. Avoid this company. Logjam Comment: This customer had a ligitiment complaint! We messed up his defective product replacement big time. Our established procedures in Customer Service for this kind of return were not effective in preventing this type of situation from occurring. We did send him his new replacement device on the Friday he called to ask about a tracking number, and there was a pre-paid UPS return label sent along with it....we just didn't tell him about it (another procedural mistake on our part). We believe our revised internal procedures will prevent this kind of mistake from happening again. If not, we're sure you'll see it here! |
