The ALMBAUX is a fiber optic Auxiliary input converter and CD changer interface that, used as an auxiliary input converter, will allow ANY auxiliary audio source to be input directly into the D2B fiber optic system of many 1999-2005 Mercedes (See Specific Vehicle Application List below), including those with the Nav option - no more FM modulators!
With this device installed, you will have created an auxiliary audio input to your factory radio, which will allow you to plug in any external audio source, like a portable MP3 player, satellite tuner, DVD player, or iPod, and play the audio from that external audio device directly through your factory radio. This is a direct connect device and NOT an FM Modulator. An FM modulator requires you to tune to an FM radio station in order to listen to the audio from the external audio device. While this is a direct connect interface, it is only an audio connection and does not allow you to control the external audio device that is connected to it.
Or, used as a CD changer interface, this interface will allow you to install an Alpine 6-disc CD changer into your Mercedes. This interface is compatible with the Alpine CHM-S611/S620/S630 6 Disc CD Changers as well as the CHA-S614 or Alpine CHA-S634 6 Disc MP3 CD Changer when used in conjunction with the ALP/Ai-M Interface Adapter.
Includes all fiber optic cabling and power cables necessary for a complete and clean installation.
Important Application Notes:
Works with or without the factory Nav option installed
NOT compatible with the "MOST" fiber optic systems present in the 2003-2004 E-Class and 2004 S-Class Mercedes Benz.
Can NOT be used when a factory CD changer is installed, as this device connects to the same CD changer connections in the vehicle.
