The SoundGate CRAUX4 Auxiliary Input Converter plugs into to the Satellite Tuner/Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) connector located on the back of the factory radio in many 2005-2008 Chrysler-made vehicles (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List below), to create an external auxiliary input that you can then use to connect the audio from any external audio source, like the audio from an MP3 player, a portable DVD player, computer, video game, any audio device that has an audio output connector.
EXCLUSIVE CONTROL ADD-ON!! The one exclusive feature the CRAUX4 has that no other Chrysler aux input has, is being able to expand the aux in into a full iPOD or Zune player interface. By adding the CORE™ system package to your CRAUX4, either the PDCBLPAK for the iPOD, or the ZNCBLPAK for the Zune player, you'll be able to control all your music through the factory radio or through the steering wheel controls, plus you'll be able to charge the iPOD or Zune, and the iPOD or Zune will pause when the radio is turned off. Therefore, if you only have enough money right now to buy just the aux in, make it the CRAUX4, so you can add iPOD or Zune control later!
Installation is simple, as the auxiliary input converter plugs into the 10-pin connector at the rear of your factory radio, shown in the image at right (click image for larger photo), using the vehicle specific cable that comes with the interface. Installation of this device will require that you disconnect either the Rear-Seat DVD or Satellite Radio Tuner if your particular vehicle is equipped with both options. This is because the CRAUX4 works in one of two emulation modes that are selected by a jumper on the circuit board. When the jumper is "on", the CRAUX4 will emulate and replace the factory satellite radio. When the jumper is "off", the CRAUX4 will emulate and replace the factory rear-seat DVD. This will allow you to maintain as many of the factory options as possible.
With this device installed, you will have created an auxiliary audio input to your factory radio, which will now allow you to plug in any external audio source, like the audio from a portable MP3 player, satellite tuner, DVD player, or iPod, into the left & right RCA-type connectors (shown at left), and play the audio from that external audio device directly through your factory radio. This is a direct-connect device and NOT an FM Modulator. An FM modulator requires you to tune to an FM radio station in order to listen to the audio from the external audio device. This device does not work like that.
Comes complete with all cables and connectors to connect the interface to your vehicle. See "Additional Add-on Items", shown below, for any additional cables or connectors you might need to connect your specific audio device to the RCA-type connectors on this interface.
Additional Add-on Items You May Need to Complete Installation:
If you need more than one audio input, you can convert the single auxiliary input of this device into three auxiliary inputs by adding the AUX3.
If you are wanting to connect a Zune™ player with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the Zune by adding the SoundGate ZNCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack.
If you are wanting to connect an iPOD™ with this interface, you can connect directly to the bottom connector of the iPOD by adding the SoundGate PDCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack. (Provides 5V charging for all new iPODs and iPhones, including the 3G)
If you are wanting to connect to the earphone jack of your audio device, you can convert the RCA inputs on this interface to a 3.5mm input by adding the PIE 3.5-RCA6MM Interface.
If you are using this interface to connect the audio from any MP3 player, cell phone or GPS nav device, and you want to mount your personal mobile device safely and securely to the dash of your vehicle without drilling any holes, you can add the SoundGate M2 universal mobile device. Great for leased vehicles, company cars and rental cars and vehicles.
