The FDAUX4 Auxiliary Input Converter connects to the Satellite/Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) data port of many 2005-2008 Ford CAN-Bus factory radios (Please see Specific Vehicle Application List below), to create an external auxiliary input that you can then use to connect the audio from any external audio source, like the audio from an MP3 player, a portable DVD player, computer, video game, any audio device that has an audio output connector.

EXCLUSIVE CONTROL ADD-ON!! The one exclusive feature the FDAUX4 has that no other Ford aux input has, is being able to expand the aux in into a full iPOD or Zune player interface. By adding the CORE™ system package to your FDAUX4, either the CPUNI-PD5V for the iPOD, or the CPUNI-ZN6V for the Zune player, you'll be able to control all your music through the factory radio or through the steering wheel controls, plus you'll be able to charge the iPOD or Zune, and the iPOD or Zune will pause when the radio is turned off. Therefore, if you only have enough money right now to buy just the aux in, make it the FDAUX4, so you can add iPOD or Zune control later!

This auxiliary input converter connects to the 16-pin connector that is located on the back of the factory radio, shown in the image at right (Click image to see larger photo). Installation of this device will require that you disconnect either the Rear-Seat DVD or Satellite Radio if vehicle is equipped with both options. The FDAUX4 has two emulation modes that are selected by a jumper on the circuit board. When the jumper is on, the FDAUX4 will emulate and replace the factory satellite radio. When the jumper is off, the FDAUX4 will emulate and replace the factory rear-seat DVD. This will allow you to maintain as many of the factory options as possible.

With this device installed, you will have created an auxiliary audio input to your factory radio, which will now allow you to plug in any external audio source, like the audio from a portable MP3 player, satellite tuner, DVD player, or iPod, into the left & right RCA-type connectors (shown at left), and play the audio from that external audio device directly through your factory radio. This is a direct-connect device and NOT an FM Modulator. An FM modulator requires you to tune to an FM radio station in order to listen to the audio from the external audio device. This device does not work like that.
