The SoundGate KNFDC5 is a multi-purpose device that can either be a 6- or 10-disc CD changer interface or a Sirius tuner interface. This device will allow you to connect a Kenwood 6- or 10-disc CD changer or connect a Kenwood Sirius tuner individually. This device works with many 1998 through 2004 Ford-made vehicles, including the Mazda B Series truck as well as the Nissan Quest, when equipped with the CD changer controlling Premium audio factory radio with a 20-pin connector at the rear of the radio. This device connects at the rear of the factory radio plugging into the 20-pin connector located there (see below for specific vehicle applications).
As a CD Changer: The device connects to the rear of the factory radio using the cable supplied with the device and will work with the Kenwood KDC-KDC-C665, KDC-C667 and KDC-C669 6-disc CD changers and the Kenwood KDC-C715, KDC-C717 and KDC-C719 10-disc CD changers.
As a Sirius Tuner only interface: The device connects to the rear of the factory radio using the cable supplied with the device and will work with the KTC-SR901, KTC-SR902 and KTC-SR903 Sirius tuners, using the cable that comes with the Sirius tuner. When used with a Sirius tuner only, the Sirius channel number is displayed using the CD changer mode's disc and track number display. As an example, DISC 1 Track 1 is Sirius channel 101. NOTE: Some Ford radios are not capable of displaying "0" (zero) for the disc number and will result in channels 1 through 99 being displayed the same as channels 101 through 199.
APPLICATION NOTES:
This device NOT compatible with vehicles that are pre-wired for a CD changer.
NOT compatible with 2003-2005 vehicles equipped with the 6-Disc in-dash headunit that are NOT equipped with external CD changer capabilities. This means that if you have a 6-disc in-dash CD changer and your factory radio can have another externally mounted (not in the dash) CD changer installed and be able to control both CD changer devices, this device will work with your vehicle.
NOT compatible with vehicles with factory navigation system.
Not compatible with the 2005 Ford 500.
