The SoundGate REMOTE3 lets you retain the use of GM and Chrysler factory steering wheel audio controls when replacing the factory radio with an after market headunit. This interface allows simultaneous use of the remote port on the rear of the new Alpine and JVC after market headunit and their wireless hand held remote. The REMOTE3 is also compatible with Blaupunkt, Clarion, Eclipse, Kenwood, Pioneer or Sony headunits that come with an infrared remote control. The REMOTE3 is the industry's first and only Sony "Hi-R" compatible steering wheel control interface.
Installation of the REMOTE3 is quite simple. There is a dip switch on the circuit board which are set according to the included instructions for the specific headunit and vehicle application. If using an Alpine or JVC headunit with the wired remote port on the rear, simply plug in the mini-plug from the REMOTE3 into the mini-plug port on the headunit and you are done. If you are using another manufacturer or an Alpine without the port, you will control the unit through the infrared emitter on the Remote3. NOTE: The mini-plug is NOT compatible with Pioneer or Sony headunits with wired remote ports.
